See the 5th picture down for the option in your own company's sound card control panel:

The option to change the crossover point is just not included by Realtek.īecause it is controlled in the software for analog outs, both X-Fi and Asus' own sound cards have the option to change it. In the Realtek control panel, the tooltip says "Bass Management enhances or redirects frequencies below crossover point to reduce loss or distortion of bass signals". Unless I check "Enable Bass Management" in the Realtek control panel, no information is sent to the receiver at all. This is because it is set from the input source, not the receiver in analog 5.1.

the crossover frequency is grayed out, and cannot be changed, and the receiver's manual says that the setting cannot be changed when the multichannel analog input is being used. However, if I use the analog outs of the motherboard into the RCA ins of the receiver, it bypasses the receiver's crossover settings. If I go out optical S/PDIF from the motherboard to the receiver using DTS Connect, it will use the receiver's crossover which I set in its menu options, as you said. I have an Onkyo 5.1 speaker system with a receiver. Good thinking ahead and emailing Realtek. This would be a very good feature to have! It should come as a standard setting on all sound drivers. I'll also email Realtek's support as well.

Can we get that option in a future driver release? It would be much appreciated. It's a little strange that such a simple option was left out of the drivers, especially with all that effort going into this motherboard's sound system. I could use SPDIF out and have my receiver set the crossover frequency, but there is a perceptible lag when using DTS Connect or Dolby Digital Live due to encoding, and I also would miss out on using the enhanced D/A converters on the Formula motherboard. With a Creative X-Fi sound card for example, there is a wide frequency range at which we can set the exact crossover frequency for the analog outs. Since every subwoofer is different, why is there no option to set the crossover frequency ourselves? The crossover point is too high for my 5.1 speaker system. With the speaker configuration set to 5.1 Speaker (analog outs), with full-range speakers unchecked and with "Enable Bass Management" checked, audio is correctly transferred to the subwoofer, but the exact frequency at which that happens seems to be set and not controllable.

After installing the audio driver (Realtek HD Audio Manager), I noticed that there is no option to set the bass crossover frequency. I have the Maximus VI Formula motherboard.
